Kenneth Richard Gildersleeve Born June 25, 1920 in Waltham, Massachusetts; died August 8, 2017 in Orange City, Florida.
He was preceded in death by Cristelle (Sparhawk) Gildersleeve, his wife of 48 years; his brothers Paul and Brian and his sister Virginia.
He is survived by his daughters Paula (George) Currivan of Sunset Beach, NC and Marsha (David) Brown of South Lyon, MI, his brother Alvin, along with 7 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by Cristelle (Sparhawk) Gildersleeve, his wife of 48 years; his brothers Paul and Brian and his sister Virginia.
He is survived by his daughters Paula (George) Currivan of Sunset Beach, NC and Marsha (David) Brown of South Lyon, MI, his brother Alvin, along with 7 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.
Ken served his country in the US Army during World War II and then worked as a carpenter in Massachusetts living in Foxboro for 35 years. He moved into management where he was superintendent for several major school construction projects. He retired to Orange City, Florida in 1986 where he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for nearly 25 years, building homes in Volusia County and, as an active RVer, also in several northern states on summer vacations.

He was an active member in the South Foxboro Union Church of Foxboro and the First Congregational Church of Orange City. He served as trustee and deacon in both congregations. Visitation will be at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday August 10 from 3-5 pm. Funeral service will be held at First Congregational Church of Orange City on Friday August 11 at 10:00 am with burial to follow in Deltona Memorial Gardens. Rev. David Westcott and Rev. David Brown officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Volusia County or First Congregational Church of Orange City.
